One year on the road

The journey

We know how we're setting off. For everything else, we want to keep plenty of freedom and let encounters, landscapes and whatever inspires us guide our route.

For this adventure, we can count on three indispensable companions: our tandem, our caravan and, of course, Pollux.

Our Hase Pino tandem

The tandem

Our transport is an electric-assist Hase Pino with a motor from Grin Technologies, installed with help from Electro Bike Zone.

It is equipped with a Shimano Deore drivetrain with three chainrings and a 10-speed 11–43-tooth cassette. Finding low enough gearing to pull our caravan was a real technical challenge, with a few adjustments… and even a broken chain during testing!

Our travel caravan

The caravan

Our small home on wheels is built on a CarlaCargo base, with a glulam timber structure, clad in plywood panels and insulated with XPS.

The ceiling is lined with cork and the walls with fabric to create a warm interior. Despite its small size, it has everything we need to live on the road: a space to sleep and store our belongings, plus a small kitchen with a Boxio sink and gas stove.

It is also equipped with two solar panels and an EcoFlow battery, allowing us to be self-sufficient in electricity for our vehicle batteries and daily needs.

Pollux, our dog and travel companion

Pollux

Pollux is our third travel companion, and he will also have a say in the rhythm of our days and the length of some stages.

To run alongside us, he has booties to protect his paws when the asphalt is hot and a pulling harness when he has energy to spare. And when it is time to rest, of course, he has his own place in the caravan.
