From an idea to our home on three wheels
Before we could hit the road, we had to imagine our future home, draw it, run calculations, revise some of the plans… and finally move from the idea to construction.
After months of work, calculations and many adjustments, our bicycle caravan began to take shape.
Heading to Germany to pick up the trailer
Once the main outlines of the project were defined, we needed a solid base. We therefore travelled to Germany in mid-November 2025 to pick up our trailer from Carla Cargo.
This cargo trailer would gradually become the base of our future little home.
Designing a home that can be pulled by bicycle
Once we had the trailer, we could work more precisely on the dimensions, structure, weight, balance and layout of our future living space.
After months of work on the plans, countless calculations and several revisions, the project gradually took shape.
A huge thank you to Lo!ic from Recycle.mjb for all the time devoted to the project, the discussions and the many adjustments needed to turn our ideas into workable plans.
From plans to CNC cutting
Once the trailer had arrived, we still had to turn our drawings into real pieces.
We prepared the plans for CNC cutting the wood at Schweizer Solaire.
After months spent on plans and calculations, it was finally time to make it real!
The interior structure is complete!
After four particularly intense days, the interior structure of our future home was finally standing.
The different pieces were beginning to come together and, for the first time, we could really get a sense of the volume of our future caravan.
The roof and walls still had to be installed… but at this point, we could already picture ourselves in it!
Time for the interior fittings
Two more days of work later, our caravan already had an almost functional kitchen and, most importantly, a roof over our heads.
As the construction weekends went by, the wooden structure became a real living space. Every centimetre had to be thought through to keep the caravan light, practical and comfortable enough to become our home for a year on the road.
We were also able to protect the construction thanks to the fantastic supplies donated by the Jack Beck shipyard: epoxy paint and marine varnish to help our little home withstand rain, sun and the kilometres ahead.
First real test of the trailer
In the end, it took many weekends of work through April, May and June — around twenty days in total — to reach a first fully functional result.
After the plans, cutting, assembly and first fittings, it was time to see whether all that work also held up once we were on the road.
On 6 June 2026, our bicycle caravan went out for its first real test.
